The Religious Council of the Eastern Prelacy organized a Choirmasters Seminar on May 3-4 under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, at St. Stephen’s Church (Watertown, Massachusetts). The seminar began with the evening service at the sanctuary after which the first lecture was presented by Rev. Fr. Stepan Baljian, pastor of St Gregory church in North Andover, MA, on the different Divine Liturgy available music distributions and arraignment that are accepted and used at our churches.
On Saturday morning, following the morning service, Mr. Hachig Kazarian lectured on the history of the Armenian Church hymns and the development of the khaz musical notation system. Finally, the choirmasters had a workshop session with Rev. Fr. Bedros Shetilian, pastor of St. Gregory church in Indian Orchard, MA, who presented and implemented different techniques in conducting to improve the quality of the singing at our churches.
