ARCHBISHOP ANOUSHAVAN PAYS TRIBUTE TO RAPHAEL LEMKIN

On Friday, June 6, His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, visited Mt. Hebron cemetery in Queens, New York, to pay his respects to the memory of Raphael Lemkin (1900-1959), the inventor and author of the definition of the word “genocide,” on the 125th anniversary of his birth. This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the first use of the word “genocide” (ցեղասպանութիւն) in its current meaning in Armenian by French Armenian noted editor and public figure Shavarsh Missakian (1884-1957), founder and publisher of Haratch newspaper in Paris.
