ARCHBISHOP ANOUSHAVAN PRESIDES OVER RACINE’S TRADITIONAL MADAGH FESTIVAL

On Sunday, June 29, His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, presided over the annual Blessing of the Four Corners of the World (Antasdan) and the blessing of the madagh offering on the picnic organized by St. Hagop Church’s in Racine, Wisconsin, and held at Johnson Park.

Addressing the nearly 800 attendees, the Prelate highly commended the trustees, auxiliary bodies, and sister organizations for their collaboration in organizing this picnic—a tradition of over half a century that gathers not only parishioners but also members of the broader local community.

He remarked that while picnics may have a festive nature, they are essentially gatherings of thanksgiving—to jointly express gratitude to the Merciful Lord for His countless blessings.

It was both touching and inspiring to witness the elderly and youth alike, forming a long line under the sweltering 90-degree sun, each holding one, two, or even more containers, approaching the main table to receive their portion.

Traditional Armenian music and dancing enriched the celebration, which lasted into the evening hours.
