CATHOLICOS ARAM I CONDEMNS ARRESTS OF CLERGY IN ARMENIA

His Holiness Catholicos Aram I has conveyed his concern about the arrests of clergymen in Armenia to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other government officials, calling for the restoration of a strong Church–State partnership. 

The Catholicos communicated his views through Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian, who was visiting Armenia on a cultural mission.   

Only a few months ago, His Holiness had denounced the targeting of priests by Armenia’s government and law enforcement, appealing for calm for the sake of the higher interests of our homeland and society, and underscoring that both the Church and the State are foundational pillars of the Armenian nation.
