SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE BEIRUT PORT EXPLOSION

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lebanese people on the second anniversary of the massive explosion at Beirut port on Aug. 4, 2020. The catastrophic blast ripped through the capital, leaving 220 dead and injuring 6,500 people, as well as causing very heavy damage to residential and business buildings. The accident, one of the most powerful non-nuclear explosions in history, had a rippling effect in a country that was already suffering from an acute economic and political crisis. We pray for the reconstruction of the country, that has been a home away from home for the Armenian people after the 1915 Genocide, and healing for its long-suffering population. His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan, Prelate, himself a native of the Country of the Cedars, thanks from the bottom of his heart the generosity of the Eastern Prelacy parishioners who selflessly gave and give to succor our Lebanese brethren, especially in these challenging times.
