Աղօթարան, Համաստեղ / House of Prayer, Hamasdegh (softcover)

Ամերիկահայ արձակագիր Համաստեղի (Համբարձում Կէլէնեան, 1895-1966) այս գեղեցիկ ու ինքնատիպ գործին երկլեզու (հայերէն բնագիր եւ անգլերէն թարգմանութիւն) հրատարակութեան յառաջաբանին մէջ, ԱՄՆ-ի Արեւելեան Թեմի Առաջնորդ՝ Անուշաւան Արքեպիսկոպոս, գրած է.

«Ի՞նչպէս կրնայ գիրք մը աղօթքի վայր ըլլալ։ Ահա այստեղ կը կայանայ Համաստեղի գործին ինքնատիպ նկարագիրը։ Ընթերցողը իւրաքանչիւր բառի, նախադասութեան, պարբերութեան, էջի, եւ վերջապէս ամբողջ գրքի ընդմէջէն պիտի վկայէ որ ստեղծագործութիւնը, համայն բնութիւնը՝ շնչաւոր թէ անշունչ, բանաւոր թէ անբան իր բոլոր տարրերով, եւ տիեզերքը իր համաստեղութիւններով կ՚աղօթէ, կը փառաբանէ ստեղծագործ Աստուածը եւ Անոր հետ յարաբերութեան մէջ ըլլալով կը գտնէ իր գոյութեան նպատակը, եւ ըստ այնմ՝ տարածքային իմաստով կը դառնայ աղօթարան։ Ի մի բան՝ տիեզերքը ինքնին Աստուծոյ սրբավայրն է, տաճարն է, եւ մենք հրաւիրուած ենք այդ աղօթավայրին մէջ ապրելու եւ գործելու  «երկիւղիւ եւ հաւատով», ամէն օր հաղորդուելով Աստուծոյ անհուն սիրով»

In his preface to the bilingual edition of this book by Armenian American celebrated writer Hamasdegh (Hampartsum Gelenian, 1895-1966), Archbishop Anoushavan wrote:

“But how can a book be a place of prayer? Probably here lies Hamasdegh’s unique character. Through each word, sentence, paragraph, page, and finally, the whole book, the reader will witness that the creation, all nature—animate or inanimate, rational or not—with all its elements, and the universe with all the constellations, prays, glorifies the creator God and being in relationship with Him finds the purpose of its existence. And accordingly, in the spatial sense it becomes a place, a house of prayer. In one word, the universe itself is God’s sacred place, the temple, and we are invited to dwell and work in that place of prayer, “with awe and faith,” communing every day with God’s infinite love.”
