BIG FAMILY CAMP IN ARMENIA BRINGS TOGETHER 75 CHILDREN FOR A WEEK OF FAITH AND FELLOWSHIP

From June 16–22, 2026, the Big Family Camp, held in [mention specific location], Armenia, brought together approximately 75 children between the ages of 8 and 14. Very Rev. Fr. Vache Balekjian, Pastor, St. Vartan Armenian Apostolic Church, New Jersey, served as the camp’s spiritual director and represented the Eastern Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America during this initiative.
Each day began with morning prayer and spiritual reflection, followed by educational, spiritual, and recreational activities for the children. “The camp week was not merely a time of rest and recreation, but a unique opportunity for spiritual renewal, learning, and growth in the love of Christ,” Fr. Vache said.
Fr. Vache [and the camp staff?] discussed with the children the fundamental tenets of the Christian faith, including the mystery and significance of the Divine Liturgy, Holy Baptism, the importance of prayer, the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, and the role of the Bible in daily lives.
A highlight was the Sunday Divine Liturgy, during which the children’s participated not only in prayer but also in the liturgical service itself, experiencing firsthand the rich spiritual heritage of the Armenian Church.
“For me, this week became a memorable ministry, as I had the opportunity to get to know these wonderful children personally, pray with them, listen to them, and witness their spiritual growth,” Fr. Vache said. “I pray that Almighty God will continue to bless this beautiful program, all its organizers and servants, and especially our beloved children, that they may grow ‘in wisdom and in years and in divine and human favor’ (Luke 2:52), and become faithful sons and daughters of our Church and nation.”
The Eastern Prelacy provided the organizational and financial support for the camp, which now is marking its 16th year.
